EMC ANNOUNCES OLELO BROADCAST OF TOWN HALL MEETINGS

Honolulu, Hawaii -- The Economic Momentum Commission (EMC) has scheduled a series of broadcasts of the recent Town Hall Meetings on Olelo Television, Channel 54 according to an announcement today by Don Horner, president & CEO of First Hawaiian Bank and chairman of the EMC.

The series of "virtual" Town Hall Meetings were held on Tuesday, November 15 at a number of different locations statewide. The meetings provided the public with an opportunity to comment on the EMC’s draft recommendations that are designed to maintain the state’s economic momentum for the long-term. The recommendations are in the areas of housing, taxation, education, workforce development, tourism, energy, agriculture, health care, the environment and native Hawaiian issues.

A ninety-minute version of the EMC Town Hall meetings will be shown on Olelo, Channel 54 on the following dates and times:

Saturday, November 26 at 10:30 pm
Sunday, November 27 at 3:00 pm
Monday, November 28 at 4:00 pm
Tuesday, November 29 at 10:30 pm

"We are pleased to make available this video recap of our Town Hall Meetings. We see the input of the general public as important to the success of our efforts to maintain the state’s economic momentum," Horner said. "All of the comments received through our web site will be considered for the final report due out next month."

Those members of the public who wish to comment on the draft recommendations and rank them in their own priority order are encouraged to visit the EMC website at emc-hawaii.com. About the Economic Momentum Commission
The 30-member Economic Momentum Commission was formed this summer to develop an action plan to sustain the state’s current economic momentum over the longer term. The Commission was formed by Governor Linda Lingle. Among its members are the bipartisan leadership of the Legislature (including the House Senate President and the Speaker of the House) as well as representatives from small and large businesses, labor unions, non-profit, environmental, cultural, educational organizations, government and the military.
